In Hiren's Boot CD, if Mini Windows XP doesn't detect (recognize) your SATA Hard Disk Drives then you may not see the Hiren's Boot CD menu and tools. You should try to set the SATA settings in your BIOS. Set them to ATA (or Native IDE). Restart your PC and run Mini WIndows XP again. Prior to boot Hiren's BootCD,I need to change to IDE mode from BIOS in order for MiniXP can detect the hard drives. Neither I cant use the F6 key, becouse the nonexixtence of the floppy drive. Then I wonder, exist any method to add new drivers to the MiniXP, directly into de Hiren's BootCD. Any comment or help are most welcome. On top of that, I copy the Hiren's CD on the Jump Drive with the WinPE image so I can utilize the Hiren's Tools while inside the WinPE image and has helped save quite a bit of time and effort as well.

Did not install any MFG drivers and Windows 10 included all drivers needed for his hardware. He had a Lexmark printer on the network that auto added the drivers when he scanned to add a printer. When you right-click on a file and select “delete,” Windows doesn’t actually delete the file.

To get an idea of how Windows stores files, think of your hard drive as a giant warehouse with hundreds of shelves. When you save a file on Windows, the computer takes the file, puts it in a box, places it on a shelf, and marks it with a sticker saying “Don’t delete me.”

Once the hard drive is full, there are no more shelves to put boxes on, and since all of the boxes have the stickers on them, Windows can’t replace a previous box with a new one.

When you “delete” a file, the computer simply takes off the “Don’t delete me” sticker from the box. It doesn’t actually take the box off the shelf. When Windows needs space, it can take down that box an replace it with another box. That is when the file is truly deleted. (Note that this isn’t exactly how the file system works, but it’s close enough for our purposes)

Depending on how full your hard drive is, it can take a long time before a deleted file is truly gone, and this allows you (or someone else) to potentially recover files that have been “deleted.”

How to use Hiren’s Boot CD to permanently erase files off of your hard drive

In order to completely delete all data on the hard drive, we are going to write over it with zeroes. Writing over it with zeroes will completely erase your hard drive and make the files unrecoverable.

1. From the Hiren’s Boot CD menu, open up the “Utilities” folder, and go to Utilities/Hard Disk Tools/Security.

2. From here, click on the HDD Low Level Format Tool and select which drive that you want to format.

3. Press “Continue,” and then click on the “LOW-LEVEL FORMAT” tab.

4. Press “FORMAT THIS DEVICE” to format the drive.

Note: before you format, make absolutely sure that you have backed up all of your data. When you format the drive, all data will be permanently erased and it will be impossible to recover. Double check everything to make sure that you are not accidentally deleting something vital. You may also have to reinstall Windows or some other operating system after you wipe your hard drive, but that can easily be done if you have your Windows Product Key.

In conclusion:

  • You will have to reinstall Windows after the format (This is good because then you can tell you person buying the computer that it has a fresh install which will make it much more appealing since it will be running like it did when you purchased it)
  • Now you can sell your laptop or pc with the peace of mind that none of your files can be recovered.

  1. After installing EasyBCD 2.2 go ahead and start it.
  2. Go to Add Entry.
  3. Under Portable/External Media click on the ISO tab.
  4. Name the entry (something like Hiren's Boot).
  5. Beside Path, choose the Hiren's BootCD ISO Path. Example: C:/Users/user/Downloads/Hiren's.BootCD.15.2.iso
  6. Click Add Entry.

How to Use Hiren's BootCD 15.2

By following the steps above, you were able to create an entry in the BCD Bootloader. Now using Hiren's BootCD will be simple. All you have to do is restart Windows. On startup, you'll see an entry below Windows named Hiren's Boot. Selecting it will allow you startup with Hiren's BootCD, problem-free.

How to Remove Hiren's Boot 15.2

After you're done using Hiren's Boot you can remove it from the BCD Bootloader. If this is what you want to do (even though it's not a bad idea to just leave Hiren's Boot as a disaster-proof backup tool), the steps for removing the Hiren's Boot entry are as follows:

  1. Go to the Edit Boot Menu button.
  2. Choose the Hirens Boot entry.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. If you prefer, you can go to the folder where you saved the Hiren's Boot 15.2 ISO and delete it as well.

NOTES

  • The name of the folder where you save the Hiren's Boot ISO should not contain any spaces.
  • Do not delete the Windows entry as it would prevent you from running Windows after restarting.
  • To start EasyBCD 2.2 problem-free, you will need to have Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 installed.
  • Some options are not compatible with PC's running UEFI systems.
